Accredited Specialisation Application - Instructions & Form

Before you complete your application for the Accredited Specialisation assessment program, please ensure you have thoroughly read the Scheme Rules, Application Handbook and Assessment Guidelines for your area of law. Applicants from Western Australia (WA) applying for specialisation program in Wills & Estates please refer to The Law Society of Western Australia website for further instructions.

All applications must be completed using the below online form.

Key Dates

  • Early bird applications close 4pm, Friday 7 Feb 2025.
  • Early bird applications outcome Friday 28 Feb 2025.
  • Early bird applicants Welcome session 1pm, Thursday 6 March 2025.
  • Applications close 4pm, Monday 31 March 2025.

Key Steps

  1. Read the Application Handbook
  2. Confirm your eligibility to apply.  
  3. Prepare your supporting documentation as outlined in Application Handbook including reference forms, resume of practice, portrait picture and other supporting documents as required. Ensure uploads don't have encryption or password.
  4. Log into the LIV (Law Institute of Victoria) member portal. If you are not a member or an interstate member (including WA applicants), please contact our membership team at membership@liv.asn.au for assistance in setting up a profile to apply.
  5. Complete the application form, noting: 
    • If you do not meet all the eligibility criteria in step 2, answer No on the form, and you will be directed to a special consideration application.
    • If you are applying for a scholarship (not applicable for WA applicants), complete the relevant section of the form of your application. You will be asked if you are applying for a scholarship, select Yes and upload your supporting letter. You will need to contact the Accredited Specialisation team to obtain the promotional code, so no payment is applied.
    • Applicants from WA applying for specialisation in Wills & Estates Law should not pay using a credit/debit card at the checkout. You will need to obtain a promocode from the Western Australia Law Society to apply and complete the application. An invoice will be emailed separately for completing the payment.
    • If your firm is paying and you require an invoice for payment, please contact LIV prior to commencing your application.
  6. Understand the LIV Privacy Policy & Terms and Conditions.
  7. Complete all the mandatory fields * and click the PAY TO SUBMIT button (if any mandatory fields are neglected, the application will not be submitted).
  8. Complete payment at the end of the application via debit/credit card.
