Review of the Family Law System

Review of the Family Law System

By Family Law Section

The Law Institute of Victoria (LIV) has prepared a submission to the Australian Law Reform Commission regarding the Review of the Family Law System Discussion Paper No 86 (2018).

The submission focuses on the simplification of language through redrafting the FLA, concerns surrounding the introduction of compulsory FDR (family dispute resolution) in financial matters, and the concern that further research and analysis is required in order to determine what legislative guidance may be required to efficiently operate a small claims list.
