The LIV has urged the the House of Representative's Standing Committee on Industry, Innovation, Science and Resources to adopt the polluter pays principle as the most appropriate way to deal with the growing demands on the industrial, commercial and domestic waste industry.

In line with the Commonwealth government's efforts to implement a circular economy and ensure products are designed to be durable, readily repaired, re-used and recycled, the LIV also recommends that prices in production should reflect the full life cycle cost to nature and society.
