Review of Victoria's Bail System

Review of Victoria's Bail System

The LIV's Review of Victoria's Bail System submission was prepared in response to the Victorian Government's decision to review Victoria's Bail System. The LIV submission suggests clarifying the language in the Bail Act, reforming and simplifying the tests for bail, and prioritising the presumption of innocence in bail decision making. The LIV submission also suggests reforming the Bail Act to include special provisions that apply to marginalised people, and retaining the bail justice system.
