The LIV has made a submission to the Law Council of Australia on the inquiry into the exploitation of general and specialist cleaners working in retail chains for contracting or subcontracting cleaning companies.

Research into the sector has revealed a high proportion of disadvantaged workers, many of whom possess poor English and literacy skills. Consequently, workers may be unaware of their rights and entitlements, or lack familiarity in seeking help from legal services.
