LIV submission on a new Online Safety Act

LIV submission on a new Online Safety Act

The LIV has made a submission to the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications consultation on a new Online Safety Act.

The LIV believes the application of the Online Safety Act is limited without taking into full consideration various online services available to users as well as the limitless harmful material being shared online.

The LIV is also concerned that, without introducing minimum standards for preventative action, there is a risk current safety measures will be reactive, and the responsibility to enforce safety standards will be placed disproportionately on the end-user.
