Find confidence to just jump in, women told

Women's Rights Workplace

Women need to have faith in opportunities when they arise "and just jump in", says Anna Svenson, who runs barristers' list Svenson Barristers. "While we need to acknowledge the problems of gender bias and the pay gap, at the same time we need to celebrate opportunities and talk about success stories," she says. "It's an incredible time to be a woman in business and the law." Ms Svenson is the first female barrister's clerk to run the list formerly known as Gordon & Jackson, which was established as List S in 1963. A barrister's clerk acts as an agent to a group of barristers. She is the only woman currently running a generalist list at the Bar.
