Succession Law

Succession law encompasses a number of matters related to wills and estate planning, including wills, trusts, grants of representation, legal personal representatives, powers of attorney and guardianship, intestacy issues, taxation, superannuation and insurance, family provision claims under Part IV of the Administration and Probate Act 1958 (Vic) and other estate litigation.

Accredited Specialisation

Accredited Specialisation in Wills & Estates has been available for 23 years and was the first assessment program for wills and estates. The accreditation program, which focuses on the practitioner’s ability to communicate with the client, elicit relevant information, obtain instructions and identify relevant issues, recognises that wills and estates specialists demonstrate superior knowledge, experience and proficiency in this area of law.

Components of the assessment program test both written and practical skills and include a written examination, a take-home assignment and a simulated client interview. For further information on becoming an accredited specialist in wills and estates, find out more here.
