Elder Law

Elder law is concerned with issues affecting older persons.

The legal matters that arise often intersect with many other areas of law, such as: guardianship and administration, health law, human rights, equity and trusts, succession law, property law, family law, taxation, contract law, and consumer law.

Lawyers practising in elder law often liaise with other professionals including: medical practitioners, allied health, nursing and administration staff, community support services, financial planners and accountants, the Office of the Public Advocate and the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT).

For further information about elder law activities and advocacy at the LIV, contact the legal policy lawyer in charge of the Elder Law Section.
